Michael Barnes brings over 20 years of experience to the strength and conditioning/ fitness industry. His previous experience includes working in Division I athletics at the most successful collegiate programs, several years in the National Football League with the San Francisco Forty Niners, and the Director of Education with the National Strength and Conditioning Association. Michael is an author, speaker, subject matter expert, industry consultant and practitioner. He holds three of the most respected professional certifications in the industry, as well as a master’s degree in Exercise Science. He has presented to coaches, athletes and fitness enthusiasts of such organizations as Major League Baseball, The National Strength and Conditioning Association, USA Triathlon, USA Rugby, the World Class Athlete Program of the US Army, the NCAA, US Ski and Snowboard Association, USA Judo, the US Association of Deaf and Blind Athletes and many more. He has traveled the world visiting such countries as Japan, Australia, Puerto Rico, Bermuda, Greece and Denmark educating, training, and interacting with leaders in the fitness industry.
While working with athletes, specifically in professional football, he had the opportunity to be part of a comprehensive team of coaches, administrators and medical care providers committed to supporting each athlete to reach their potential. Working for more than ten years exclusively with athletes required a sense of urgency, focus and commitment. That environment developed and refined practical applications in torso/core stabilization, metabolic training and working around orthopedic issues. Michael has taken that same philosophy and applies it to everyone he works with.
Michael believes in using science as a focal point to support his practice. The evolution of scientific, peer-reviewed information in the last 25 years has been remarkable and, being able to apply the most recent information overlaid on basic scientific principles is a tenant of Michaels approach to fitness. “Without the use of scientific information for fitness programming is the same as a sailboat on the water with no rudder.”
The foundation of Infinity Personal Training and Fitness are not graduate degrees, certifications or experience in professional football; the foundation is core values. Respect, honesty, reliability, compassion and fairness are the substance that separates Mike’s practice and Infinity Personal Training and Fitness from the rest.
